NAME: Maryanne “Momma” Bishop

NUMBER OF YEARS AT HOPEWELL: 29

NUMBER OF YEARS VOLUNTEERING IN YOUTH MINISTRY: almost 28

ABOUT ME: I grew up in Oreland PA, moved to Savannah GA my senior year in High School, which is where I met my husband before moving back to PA – lived in York PA for a few years and then settled in Blue Bell PA for my job.  I married Ed Bishop 28 years ago.  We have 3 children together: Brandon (25), Faith (22) and Emily “Jax” (16).  We live in Chester Springs in a 200+ year old farmhouse.  If you ever want to hear a really funny story, ask Arnie Kring to tell you about when we bought the house. Ed and I were married at Hopewell and the then senior pastor, Richard Conner, explained he had a “need” for a young person to lead Youth.  I agreed to do so if my husband was welcome as well.  And the first thing I did with the youth was attend a Good Works Summer Work Camp in the Summer of 1995.  That trip changed my life!!  I LOVED volunteering and working in mission with teens.  They were so inspiring!  Ed and I have served on many youth mission trips since then.  At first as work crew leaders.  The past several years we have been the Kitchen staff. We enjoy feeding the kids and the adults on the trips.  It’s a blessing to us to serve in this way. I also have a full-time job as a Senior Client Executive for Change Healthcare. In my years at Hopewell, I have served in many ways: Staff Parish Relations, Church Council Chair, Finance Committee, Beyond the Walls Chair, Sunday School teacher. UMYF Youth Leader, I have been on mission trips to South Africa and Haiti, but what I LOVE most is working with teens!  Seeing them meet, grow to know and live a life in Christ is the biggest blessing this life has to offer!
