Men's Ministry

Monday Morning Men

Doug Wimer has retired from his over 15 years of leadership to this men's Bible study which has continued to meet each and every Monday morning at 7 am for breakfast (until 8 am) at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant in Exton since 1999. Phil Starousky, one of its original founders, has returned to the group and has now taken over the leadership of this wonderful Bible study and conversation group. Currently, the group is studying 1 Timothy in an expository way. Previous studies have involved the book of Isaiah, 1st and 2nd Peter, the Book of James and the study of Romans. You are personally invited and encouraged to join this long running and engaging conversation and Bible study.

Men of Sabbath: Saturday Morning Study Group

Our next excursion into the Word of God is in the Book of Ephesians. The apostle Paul wrote Ephesians as a letter to the people whom God used to bring new life in Christ throughout the province of Asia in the Roman Empire. He was with the Ephesian people for over two years working with them and helping to spread the Good News of the Gospel and that all Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia would hear the Word of the Lord (Acts 19:10). We will, through this 8 week study, encounter and grow from the amazing teachings of Paul in this beautiful letter. Every man at Hopewell UMC is invited to this conversational study that meets every Saturday morning from 8:30 - 10:00 in Room Adam.  If you have never been in a Bible study, I think you will like this group. Discussion, dialogue and fellowship are had every week. We call this group Men of the Sabbath and you are invited to participate and, I pray, be transformed by the Word of God in your life and walk with our Lord, Jesus.

Men of Faith

Friday mornings
6:30 am to 7:30 am
Hopewell Adult Ministry Center Lounge

Our Friday morning Men of Faith Bible Study meets at 6:30 AM each week in the Lounge next to the Adult Ministry rooms. Leader Scott Rafferty brings lessons and material from men’s ministries at other prominent churches (like “The Herd” at Saddleback Church) to foster discussion, but there’s plenty of room for the needs of those present and the influence of the Holy Spirit to lead the hour in fresh directions. There’s always coffee and room for a few more on Friday mornings, no preparation or reservations needed. If you have questions about this small group opportunity, please contact scott.rafferty@verizon.net. Or just show up. We’ll have the coffee brewing.

If You Want to Walk on Water, You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat by John Ortberg

Let Peter’s walk stand as an invitation to everyone who wants to step out in faith and experience more of the power and presence of God. Let water-walking be a picture of doing with God’s help what we could never do on our own.
