A CALL TO PRAYER AND FASTING

A CALL TO PRAYER AND FASTING
in the month of May

We find ourselves in a time of transition within the life of the Church of Jesus Christ
that is Hopewell UMC. Lead Pastor Steve Morton is moving into the role of District
Superintendent of the North District after serving this church for 21 years. Our
Associate Pastor, Amy Banka, will step into the Lead Pastor position. Pastor Eddie
Cameron will be coming to us in July to serve as our new Associate Pastor. SO
much CHANGE happening!!! What’s a church to do???... Well… we PRAY, with
intentionality and purpose. During the month of May, various opportunities for
guided prayer will be suggested. Those practices include: weekly prayer focuses
relative to the transition; Tuesdays designated as days of fasting and prayer
(contact Pastor Vicki [vicki@hopewellumc.org] if you are interested in committing
to this); different types of prayer for each Wednesday, including a Prayer
Wall; prayer-walking the building, prayer time in the chapel, Labyrinth walks, a 24
hour prayer vigil. These opportunities will be posted in the bulletin each
week. Won’t you join in the Hopewell Chorus of Prayer as we lift up our gratitude,
our hopes and our petitions to the Lord, our God?

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything
according to his will, he will hear us.” (1 John 5:14)
